Things that are a must before you ride.
Before we ever go into the back-country we make sure that we have the right equipment. You never know when or where you may need help or you maybe your the one helping someone that is in need. You should have the gear and equipment to spend the night if needed. Here that we have found works the best and some of these are a must.
Items that are a must:
- Avalanche probe. Practice deploying it and make sure it’s in good condition.
- Shovel. Have a well-built shovel with an attachable saw.
- Transceiver/Beacon. Replace batteries and practice with it!
Here are items that you should have:
- Avalanche Pack - Know how and when to deploy.
- Spot or InReach - Communication device, great if you need help..
- 2 Way Radio's - We currently have found that the BCA BC Link are a great add to make it so that you can communicate with your group.
- First Aid Kit - Bandages, Wraps, Tape, Splint, Tourniquet
